Spinach Borek - A Savory Delight
Discover the rich history of spinach borek, how Mezeria elevates this classic pastry, and learn to make it at home with our recipe.
The History of Borek
Borek, a savory pastry made with thin layers of dough and various fillings, is a beloved dish in Turkish and Balkan cuisines. Its origins date back to the Ottoman Empire, where it was a staple in palace kitchens and a symbol of culinary artistry. Over time, borek spread across the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and North Africa, with each region adding its own unique twist.
Spinach borek, in particular, is a popular variation that combines the flaky texture of phyllo dough with the earthy flavors of spinach and creamy cheese. Traditionally served as a snack, appetizer, or breakfast dish, spinach borek is cherished for its versatility and comforting taste.
